M5 Data Adds new Capacity Option to Richmond Range

Following extensive market research M5 have added an additional capacity option to their world beating Richmond Range of Tape Libraries.

The R11 precisely fills a gap in our range where users want the maximum number of LTO tape cartridges in the least amount of space.  “We have combined the standard R6 (6U high unit) with the R5 capacity module to create the R11” explained Eric Lowe, Director of Sales and Marketing at M5.  The result is an 11U high, 19” rack mount tape library with a maximum capacity of 128 LTO cartridges. The R11 also supports up to 3 LTO drives.

Capacity on Demand is available with a starter capacity of 64 cartridges, doubled to 128 by a simple software key. The library is installed once and the extra capacity switched on when needed.  There is no physical disruption, so the rack contents and cables are not disturbed.

In common with all the Richmond range, the connectivity options cover all needs. Fibre Channel, SAS, iSCSI and parallel SCSI will all be supported in this industry leading Tape library range, developed with mid range requirements very much in mind.
